The Carpathians present at the UNFCCC COP23!


Mountains in motion: Climate Action in the Alps, the Carpathians, the Pyrenees and the Apennine

  high level event will take place during the 23rd Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 23) to the UN Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

location: EU Pavilion, Area A1 of the Bonn zone, Room Brussels

This Side Event aims at presenting the status quo with climate action in significant European mountain areas: the Alps, the Carpathians, the Pyrenees and the Apennines, and at sharing good practices with other regions. It raises global awareness on the commitments and actions towards climate change mitigation and adaptation undertaken in mountain areas from the international to the local level, their reciprocal linkages and the fundamental role that non-state actors (NSA) and stakeholders can play to increase resilience and curb CO2 emissions in those regions.

The event is organized by the The Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea and the Alpine Convention, together with other partners.

The Carpathians will be represented by the Carpathian Convention Presidency - Hungary and the Secretariat.
