11th Meeting of the Working Group on Sustainable Tourism Advances Regional Cooperation in the Carpathians

The 11th Meeting of the Working Group on Sustainable Tourism under the Carpathian Convention took place from 10 to 12 March 2026 in Rzeszów, Poland, bringing together representatives of Parties, experts, and key stakeholders.

The meeting provided updates from Parties on the implementation of the Protocol on Sustainable Tourism. Participants also explored the role of Carpathian pastoralism within the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, highlighting its relevance for sustainable tourism development.

A key focus of the discussions was the advancement of the Carpathian Sustainable Tourism Platform (CSTP) and the outcomes of the Central Mountains Project, including new cooperation models and their application across the region.

Participants worked on defining priority actions for next year for the WG Tourism, possibly aligning CSTP activities with national and regional strategies, and strengthening cooperation mechanisms among Parties and partners. The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange good practices and discuss new project ideas to support sustainable tourism in the Carpathians.

The event concluded with the Central Mountains Project Final Conference, further reinforcing collaboration and innovation in sustainable mountain tourism.
