Working Group on Sustainable Tourism

The Working Group on Sustainable Tourism (WG Tourism) is tasked with promoting and implementing strategies to advance sustainable tourism in the Carpathian region, ensuring positive outcomes for the local populace. Undertaken measures by the WG Tourism should capitalize on the exceptional characteristics, landscapes, and cultural legacy of the Carpathians, while also fostering enhanced collaboration to achieve this objective.

Furthermore, the WG shall actively advocate for policies that foster transboundary collaboration, facilitating the responsible growth of sustainable tourism. This may encompass the development of coordinated or collaborative management schemes for protected areas spanning across borders, as well as other sites of significant tourist attraction.

WG Tourism shall aim at supporting the Parties to the Carpathian Convention towards their cooperation for the implementation of Article 9 on Sustainable Tourism and other related Articles of the Carpathian Convention.  The WG Tourism will steer and guide activities of the Carpathian Convention towards the implementation of the Protocol on Sustainable Tourism and related the Strategy for sustainable tourism development, relevant COP Decisions and related Carpathian Convention Programme of Work.
