Final Conference of the Central Mountains Project held in Rzeszów, Poland

The Final Conference of the Central Mountains Project took place on 12 March 2026 in Rzeszów, Poland, marking the culmination of project activities and an important milestone in strengthening cooperation and governance mechanisms in the mountain regions of Central Europe.

The conference was organised in conjunction with the 11th Meeting of the Carpathian Convention Working Group on Sustainable Tourism (10–11 March 2026).

The event brought together representatives of national authorities, regional stakeholders, international organizations, experts, and project partners to present key achievements of the project, including the development and testing of a new cooperation model for the Carpathian Sustainable Tourism Platform (CSTP).

The Secretariat of the Carpathian Convention actively contributed to the conference programme, highlighting the role of the Convention as a key framework for regional cooperation, as well as the importance of the project’s outcomes in strengthening governance and fostering stakeholder participation in decision-making processes.

Discussions focused on enhancing coordination among mountain regions and their stakeholders, aligning development pathways with sustainability principles, and identifying future priorities and funding opportunities.

The Central Mountains Project provides useful inputs for the continued work for the Carpathian Convention through a various project results, including with respect to the Carpathian Sustainable Tourism Platform and its strengthened governance system.
