In the 2017, the 5th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Carpathian Convention adopted the new Article 12bis to the Convention, stressing by this the importance of climate change adaptation and mitigation in the Carpathian region. The Hungarian Presidency of the Carpathian Convention (2017-2020) identified the climate change topic as one of its priorities and in this respect, proposed to elevate the mandate of the Working Group allowing for better cooperation between other WGs and supporting mainstreaming of the climate action into all sectors relevant for the implementation of the Carpathian Convention such as biodiversity, forests, tourism, agriculture. With support of the Secretariat, the Hungarian Presidency proposed a Paper – Elevating the Mandate of the CC Working Group on Adaptation to Climate Change that should guide the process of strengthening role of the WG CC and suggests next steps for the Working Group, including updating its  Terms of Reference and drafting the future Work Plan. These topics were discussed during the upcoming 7th Meeting of the Carpathian Convention Working Group on Adaptation to Climate Change. Meeting documents are available below.
