Two new ForestConnect guidelines published to support ecological connectivity in the Carpathians
The Carpathian Convention is pleased to announce the publication of two new ForestConnect guidelines that provide practical guidance for strengthening ecological connectivity, supporting biodiversity conservation and advancing sustainable forest management across the Carpathians.
Guidelines on Management of Transnational Mosaic Habitats along Forest Corridors present a practical, mosaic-based approach to managing forests, semi-natural grasslands and transitional habitats, including recommendations on planning, implementation, governance and adaptive management.
Guidelines on Preserving Ecosystems and Related Services in Eco-Connectivity Areas for the Benefit of Large Carnivores and Local People provide a landscape-scale framework for integrating ecological connectivity into policy, spatial planning and conservation practice while promoting healthy ecosystems, ecosystem services and coexistence between wildlife and local communities.
Both publications translate scientific knowledge and the practical experience of the ForestConnect project into operational guidance for Parties to the Carpathian Convention, protected area managers, forestry authorities, spatial planners, researchers and other stakeholders working to strengthen ecological connectivity in the region.
